Privacy Policy

Who we are
Rift Crashers is made by Tethered Rifts Studio, LLC. This policy covers the Rift Crashers game on Steam, riftcrashers.com, and the game's leaderboard. Our studio site, tetheredrifts.com, has its own privacy policy, which covers our mobile games and social channels.
Signing in
Rift Crashers has no separate account of its own. You sign in with your Steam account. Valve's handling of your data is covered by Valve's privacy policy: https://store.steampowered.com/privacy_agreement/.
Multiplayer
Games run peer to peer over Steam. Other players in your lobby can see your Steam display name and Steam ID, as with any Steam multiplayer game.
Leaderboard
The leaderboard is on by default. You can turn it off with the leaderboard setting in the game's settings. Runs flagged as modified are never submitted.
At the end of a run, the host's game sends us, for each player: Steam ID, Steam display name, character, kills, level, damage dealt, and the items, weapons, upgrades and codex entries taken. For the run itself, it sends a run ID, the map, the length of the run, whether it was completed, the map seed, and a trace of the run: player and boss positions and health over time, the levels visited, and which chests, vendors, totems, vault doors and other objects were found and used. The submission carries a Steam session ticket, which we check with Steam to confirm who sent it. We also post scores to the game's Steam leaderboards.
What is public
The leaderboard and run pages on riftcrashers.com, and the in-game leaderboard, show your Steam display name, Steam ID, profile picture (loaded from your public Steam profile), and your run stats.
Diagnostics
Nothing is uploaded automatically. At the end of a run the game offers a button to send us that session's log, to help us fix bugs; the log goes only when you press it. The diagnostics setting hides the button altogether. A log can include your Steam ID, display name, the names and Steam IDs of the players in your lobby, game version, lobby role, performance figures, and error messages.
What we do not do
We do not run ads. The game contains no analytics or tracking SDKs. We do not sell personal data.
Our server receives your IP address with each request. We use it only in memory to rate-limit requests; it is not stored in our database. The site is served through Cloudflare, which processes IP addresses to deliver and protect it, and which also collects aggregate page-view analytics for riftcrashers.com (Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies): https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.
On your device
Your settings and local logs are saved on your own computer.
Keeping and deleting your data
Leaderboard entries are kept while the leaderboard runs. To remove your leaderboard entries or diagnostics logs, email [email protected] with your Steam ID or profile link. We will confirm and delete them.
Children
Rift Crashers is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy as the game changes. Check back here for the latest version.
